PNG APPRECIATION DAY CANCELLED
Due to the extreme weather prediction the Ipswich Jets are making a pre-emptive decision To cancel this weekends trial games against the Tweed Heads Seagulls and the PNG Hunters. We have not taken this decision lightly due to the preparation already put in to the event however we have checked with the weather people and the local councils re what’s likely to happen here in the next 24 to 48 hours. From what we can tell it’s not looking good with a potential Cat 4 cyclone and plenty of flood warnings and road closures likely. In this case we feel that it would be irresponsible of us to expect our opposition teams, bus drivers and fans to travel on roads that could be dangerous. In view of this we believe it is safer to cancel our trial matches for this weekend. Although this is not what we wanted we don’t believe that we have any other real options. We are sorry about the inconvenience caused because of this decision but we trust you will understand.
See jets rugby league team Facebook for more information.
Thanks

Aussie team gets nines invitation
Source:
The National, Wednesday February 4th, 2015
Papua New Guinean rugby league players in Queensland have been invited to send a team to the Pacific Balanced Fund Nines tournament in March in Lae, Morobe. The Queensland Papua New Guinea Kokomo have been rewarded for their consistent support during the PNG Hunters inaugural season last year. PNGRFL chief executive officer Brad Tassell confirmed the team was invited and was excited to be part of the tournament. “The Queensland PNG teams have their own organised competition and during the Hunters season last year they were our biggest supporters during matches in Queensland,” Tassell said.

Kokomo’s Invited to Compete in the PBF Nines Tournament in Lae
Great News : The Qld PNG Kokomos have been invited by the PNGRL to compete in the PBF Nines Tournament which is to be held in Lae, in March, 2015.
In this Tournament the Kokomos will be competing against the Digicel Cup teams from PNGs National competition. This is a massive achievement for our Kokomo organisation and recognition of the quality of Rugby League we represent.
Our head coach and former Kumul, Elias Paiyo, will select 13 players that he thinks will suit the 9s concept, which he will contact personally. There will also be another 3 officials travelling with playing squad.
The official announcement of the 13 man squad will be posted later this week.
