The QLD PNG Kokomos U16s took on the Western Broncos development squad at Purtell Park in Bardon today. The team played a great game of football today but a heavy penalty count in the first half cost them dearly with the halftime score 12-nil to the Broncos. But the wisdom, motivation and tactical strategy from coaches, Troy Geddes and Neville Change, saw a fired up Kokomos team determined to fight back in the second half. And fight back they did.
They scored two tries. The first by Willy and the second by Shaun Hoerler. With Zac Tabi and Garrick Annikan with a conversion each. Unfortunately a successful Broncos penalty kick proving the difference between the two teams.
The second half proved that if the Kokomos can keep the penalties against them down, they can be a strong contender in the Queensland Pacific Islands Cultural Carnival (QPICC) starting next Friday Night (24th October, 2014) at Bill Norris Oval, Beenleigh.
