Kokomos v Samoa

Sunday, 04 October 2015 by John Ten

Yesterday 3rd Oct Results from Wavell Heights High School

Yesterday 3rd Oct Results from Wavell Heights High School
Our Kokomo u18s went down 32-26 in a great game of Rugby League. We were leading 20-16 at halftime after our boys showed their speed and some really good shifting of the ball and our forwards who took on the big Samoan boys front on.Coach Matty Muir was happy with performance. This was our 1st trail game and we can only keep the momentum going upwards as we prepare to shake the u18 Division in QPICC at the end of the month. Our u18s our our future and yesterday showed this 18s team means serious business this year. Top effort by all players and Coaching staff.
Our Mens “A” Kokomo side were beaten convincingly by a much bigger, stronger and skilled RLQ Samoan side 56-12.Defence in 1st half was our biggest letdown as the Samoans tore us apart with their aggressive running to reach 40 points.2nd half saw us put in a much better effort defensively, but we have a lot of work ahead us.We were missing a lot of our experience players who are still carrying injuries from our Kokomo 9s carnival but some of the youngsters that played will be much better for the experience. We lacked a lot of size up front yesterday which did not help us. Our 2 mens A & B play trials next Saturday against the East Maoris mens A and B which players can push their claims.Head Coach Elias Paiyo and assistant Neville Chang look at all players in all upcoming trials in which eventually will come up with a 25 man squad for the big QPICC Mens Division to defend our title. Yesterdays performance was very disappointing but our Kokomos will bounce back.
